Lighting Up the Grill with Cider

Our summer dream is a long afternoon of sipping cider outside by the grill with friends & family.

One of our favorite things about summer is that we can finally light up the grill – or visit someone who has one! Cooking outside, sipping & enjoying friends and family is our dream of a long summer afternoon. Bringing cider to the grill is a brilliant choice – it will be the unexpected star of any outdoor cookout.

Grilled Sausages

The best sausages are complete by themselves, so you shouldn't try to hit them over the head with an aggressive cider. Instead, reach for a bottle of Tilted Shed Jonathan Methode Champenoise Cider, which is loaded with baked apple & caramel flavors and a creamy, juicy acidity that will balance the richness of the sausage.

Grilled Veggies

Few things are prettier (or healthier) than vegetables on the grill. It can be as easy as zucchini slices. Toss them with freshly chopped herbs, such as tarragon, and you have a plate of great (cider) food. To complement the herbal, sweet and charred flavors, reach for a cider made with smoky-yet-refreshing bittersharp apples, like Carr's Bittersweet Blend. It's a dry, wild-fermented cider that has an aromatic fruity nose and a gentle effervescence.

Grilled Chicken

This simple but infinitely variable staple of summer can pair with heaps of different ciders. Snowdrift Seckel Perry is creamy and loaded with tarragon and sweet parsnip flavor, making it a great combination with chicken with basil pesto and greens. Feeling chimichurri instead? Then try a bottle of Eaglemount’s Homestead Cider. It has a savory tart palette and notes of tarragon and key lime that make it an ideal choice. It's made from heirloom apples like Gravenstein, Tolman Sweet and Stayman’s Winesap grown on a homestead orchard that dates back to 1883. These antique apples bring lots of great fruit and herbal flavors to any dish.

Whatever you’re grilling gourmet or casual, there is a bottle of cider waiting for you!
