This is a properly dry, bright, and elegant cider. A beautiful marriage of two harvests, the spritely acid from 2017 crabapples balancing the earthy funk of 2016 heirlooms and bittersweets. It has aromatics of orchard floor and notes of pear, dried pineapple and kiwi. Good tannic grip, bright acidity, with long elegant finish. A balanced crowd pleaser.
Transcendent crabapples from the 2017 harvest; Gravenstein, Rome, Golden Delicious, Nehou, and Muscat de Bernay from the 2016 harvest. All organically grown in Sonoma County, CA.
Pizza, chicken, pasta with pesto, grilled pork chops.
Ordinarily we release ciders by harvest (aka vintage) date, but we love the vivacity the crabapples give to this cider in youth, balancing out the depth and earthiness from heirloom and bittersweet apples that have a little age on them.
At its core, Tilted Shed Ciderworks is a hobby gone wild. The trouble started in 2007...
